Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to its "beautiful pebbles" ("beaux Cailloux", in French) that geologists refer to less romantically as Gunzian gravel. These quartz pebbles were deposited by the ancient Garonne at the beginning of the early Quaternary period, some two million years ago. Here at Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, since 1720, the masters of winemaking (meticulous winegrowers, expert oenologists and confirmed epicureans) gathered around the Borie families for 3 generations, open to the world and to innovation, i.e. all energy, passion and all knowledge . in the service of their dream of excellence which is the creation of exceptional wines. Tradition intertwines with innovation, combining classic winemaking methods with cutting-edge technology. Their smart vats – state-of-the-art conical fermentation tanks made of oak – enable real-time monitoring and precise control of fermentation conditions, enhancing the consistency and quality of wines. The château's new cellar, due for completion in late 2025, will incorporate the latest advances in winemaking, such as the ability to chill the grapes upon receipt, maintaining the freshness and integrity of the fruit. Gravity flow allows gentle handling of the grapes to preserve purity and freshness. Small volume Smart oak vats are designed for precise selection of parcels and improved winemaking.
