Palate
On the palate, El Anejón is deep, structured, and exceptionally refined. The attack is broad and velvety, supported by silky, well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity that provides freshness and balance. Layers of ripe black fruit unfold alongside notes of dark chocolate, espresso, delicate spices, and subtle mineral undertones. The finish is long, persistent, and elegant, revealing the wine’s complexity and outstanding ageing potential.
Nose
Dominated by intense aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrants, blackberries, and sour cherries. These are elegantly complemented by notes of violets, cocoa, roasted coffee, and fine spices, alongside subtle mineral and balsamic nuances. Careful oak ageing adds refined hints of vanilla, tobacco, and licorice, bringing remarkable complexity and aromatic elegance.
Winemaking
El Anejón is crafted from hand-harvested grapes that are carefully selected both in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure exceptional quality. Vinification takes place in small French oak vats, with spontaneous fermentations that highlight the authenticity of the terroir. The wine is aged in new 600-liter French oak barrels, developing remarkable complexity, elegance, and aromatic depth. The 2020 vintage was bottled in the spring of 2023.
