Visual
Golden yellow.
Palate
Full body with concentrated, ripe fruit, balanced by a lively acidity; long, lingering finish.
Nose
It has a rich nose, with hints of toast and vanilla as well as aromas of citrus fruit.
Winemaking
Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for four weeks, with natural yeasts. 6-8 months of barrique aging (with malolactic fermentation).
Gaia & Rey is produced from two separate vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco areas. The vine from Treiso was planted in 1979, the other from Serralunga d'Alba in 1989. The latter adds acidity and complexity to this wine. It was first produced in 1983.
