Luca by Laura Catena

In 1997 Laura, a Harvard and Stanford trained Biologist and Physician, joined Bodega Catena Zapata as Research Director. In 1999 Laura Catena founded Luca Winery to explore the quality potential of small Old Vine family-owned vineyards in the Uco Valley region of Mendoza. Luca is named after Laura Catena’s first son and it symbolizes her love for her family. The family crest that appears on the label belongs to her husband Dan McDermott’s family. First Argentinean winery to bottle old vine Malbec, a pioneer in working with small family-owned vineyards, first high altitude Pinot Noir & Chardonnay in Uco Valley -organically farmed, oldest massal Syrah selection in Argentina, brought from the Rhone Valley in 1955. All these are the result of a committed Winemaking & Viticulture team: Luis Reginato and Laura Catena that have been working together for 20 years. Three times in Wine Spectator's Top 100 List (2008, 2014 and 2021). Twice in Wine Enthusiast Top 100 List (2018 and 2020)
