Marqués de Murrieta

The origin of the Marqués de Murrieta winery is the origin of Rioja as well. Don Luciano Murrieta, applying techniques learned in Bordeaux, made the first Rioja wine in 1852 to perpetuate it over time. Don Luciano's vision was clear from the start: to create a fine Rioja wine with great aging potential and to export it outside of Spain.

The Marqués de Murrieta winery has been run since 1983 with professionalism and daily effort by the Cebrián-Sagarriga family. The major renovation project was completed with the inauguration in 2021 of the new winemaking facilities, a complex of buildings of more than 25,000 square meters, built next to the Castillo de Ygay. This spacious building is equipped with the latest technology and is considered one of the most avant-garde wineries in the world. Over 50,000 square meters of gardens provide a charming and idyllic setting. The winery is modernized, remaining completely true to its roots and identity in time and ready to continue creating the best possible wines.
