Podere Le Ripi

As an authentic expression of the terroir and Sangiovese of this south-eastern strip of Montalcino, Le Ripi has established itself as the standard of the biodynamic Brunello in just a few years. Born in the early 2000s from the intuition and passion of Francesco Illy, the famous coffee family, Podere sees biodynamics as a production philosophy focused on respect for the territory without any quality compromise. This is demonstrated by the experiments of the "bonsai vineyard", with very high density (62,500 plants/hectare), and the "golden cellar", based on the proportions of the classic golden section and a circular "pantheon" used for refining. They are made entirely biodynamically and to a meticulous level of quality rarely found in the world of wine. The wines include Amore e Follia (a Rosso blend), Sogni e Follia (Rosso di Montalcino), Amore e Magia (Brunello di Montalcino), Lupi e Serene Riserva (Brunello di Montalcino), and the Bonsai, a Rosso di Montalcino handpicked and hand sorted from the most densely planted vineyard in the world.
