Visual
Intense and bright ruby red.
Palate
Full-bodied, with extraordinary concentration and power, the taste is multi-layered, with inviting aromas of black cherries, red currants, cocoa, amaretto, espresso and graphite. Iconic 'Rutherford Dust' tannins add a fine cocoa powder texture with a long finish and lingering finish, while secondary notes of earth, espresso and graphite add to the complexity. The palate is supple and fresh with balanced acidity, demonstrating the classically elegant, delicious and appealing character for which this wine is known. Very good to drink both young and for a long time, with great aging potential.
Nose
Nuanced, exuberant bouquet with aromas of ripe berries (black raspberry, blackcurrant and black cherry) and delicate notes of wild herbs, lavender, rose, fresh mint, sage and thyme. The spicy exotic notes specific to aging in French oak barrels are well integrated.
Winemaking
A portion of the must is fermented in new French oak barrels, which ensures early integration of flavors and enhances the dense and rich texture. The rest of the must is fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks that preserve the freshness of the fruit. After prolonged skin contact, the wine is returned to barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation.
