La Chapelle, the property that produces the most representative wine of the Jaboulet house, came into the family's possession in 1919. Hermitage "La Chapelle" is a blend of terroirs, including the famous Meal and Bessards hills. Each parcel comes with its own aromatic characteristics, along with the elegant tannin structure that gives the wine a long aging potential.
Starting with the legendary wine of 1961, which was classified as one of the 12 mythical wines of the 20th century, Hermitage "La Chapelle" has become one of the most sought-after wines in the world.
The wine is made from 100% Syrah from old vines, aged between 40 and 60 years, which offer low yields of 10-18 hl/ha. The grapes are hand-picked from the high hills of Hermitage and mature for 15-18 months in French wooden barrels.
