Alsace

Alsace is located between Germany and France and has a cold continental climate. Due to a screen realized by Vosge mountains autumn here is longer, making it one of the most arid regions of France. Warm summers and dry autumns ensure perfect conditions for grapes to accumulate high sugar levels. The best known appellations are Alsace AC and Alsace Grand Cru AC, and the most important grapes are Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat from which are made wines with different levels of residual sugar: from dry to sweet.

Léon Beyer

Maison Léon Beyer is one of the oldest wineries in Alsace. The family has owned vineyards at the picture-postcard village of Eguisheim since 1580. Maison Léon Beyer was founded in 1867 and is one of the Grandes Maisons d'Alsace, part negociant but also important land owner. For many years, the driving force behind this House was Léon Beyer.
