Marchese Antinori - Badia a Passignano

The Badia a Passignano estate lies in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, Italy, one of the country’s most historic and prestigious wine zones. Nestled near the village of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, about 30 km south of Florence, the area sits among rolling hills covered with vineyards, olive groves, and woodlands.
The region’s soils are a mix of galestro (a crumbly marl) and alberese (limestone clay), which provide excellent drainage and help produce wines with depth, minerality, and refined tannins. The Mediterranean climate—warm days, cool nights, and balanced rainfall—encourages slow, even ripening of the Sangiovese grape, the signature variety of Chianti Classico.
Chianti Classico is marked by its black rooster emblem and centuries-old viticultural heritage. Within this context, Badia a Passignano’s vineyards surround an 11th-century abbey, where monks cultivated vines long before the Antinori family began their stewardship. The area embodies the union of Tuscan history, monastic tradition, and world-class winemaking, making it one of the region’s most evocative landscapes.
