Yangarra Estate Vineyard
Yangarra Estate Vineyard is a single vineyard of 167 hectares, organically farmed since 2008 and certified both organic and biodynamic since 2011. There are about 26 hectares of native vegetation surrounding the property and permanently covering the crops in the vineyard. Soil health is a high priority, so synthetic chemicals are not used in the vineyard and compost is added instead. Since 2000, the winemaker and general manager of this vineyard is Peter Fraser, whose determination, knowledge and attention to detail both in the vineyard and in the cellar lead to the creation of exceptional wines in a classic and timeless style, appreciated worldwide.
Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard is situated on the high elevation hills of Clarendon, a subregion along the northern edge of McLaren Vale. First planted in 1971 with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, this vineyard historically produced grapes for many of Australia’s most iconic producers but was not bottled under its own label until 2012. The first four wines to bear the Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard label were produced from the 2012 vintage: Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a Cabernet Shiraz blend. Currently led by winemakers Christopher Carpenter and Peter Fraser, and viticulturer Michael Lane, Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard continues to produce these strong and expressive character wines.
