Dürnberg

The story of Dürnberg winery, named after the name of the hill it is built, appears to be taken from a Hollywood movie, with three childhood buddies gathering over the years to put the foundations of one of the most successful Austrian producers. The Durnberg adventure began in 1988 when economist Professor Cristoph Korner received a gift from his grandmother's 60 hectares of vineyard and a wine cellar in Falkenstein, Weinviertel wine region. Next to Korner came his childhood friends Matthias Marchesani and Georg Klein, who took over marketing and promotion duties and administration. The help from his friends allowed Korner to concentrate on making superpremium wines. The crispy nature of Durnberg wines is the result of an extraordinary terroir. Located on limestone soil with a favorable microclimate, the plantations produce grapes that reach perfect maturity, producing wines with elegant aromas, pronounced fruit, and stout acidity. The winemaking techniques used in the Durnberg cellar preserve the primary character of the varieties. By reducing CO2 emissions through renewable energy, Durnberg is one of the first Austrian producers to choose sustainable agriculture practices.
