Hans Herzog Family Estate Spirit of Marlborough - 2015 - Marlborough
Deep red with purple hues.
Power, harmony and grace. A full-bodied wine, pure, with velvety but firm tannins. Hints of spices and cedar wood are present in the long, savory finish.
Blackberries, ripe plums and black currants aromas.
Perfectly healthy, destemmed grapes are left for a long cold soak to extract the superb flavours and colour of the skins. Then the must naturally progress through a long wild yeast fermentation and extended post-maceration. After gentle pressing, the young wine was transferred into partly new French barriques where it underwent the second natural malolactic fermentation. Maturation for 30 months in the same French barriques, then bottled without filtration and another 3 years of aging in the bottle.
