Marjan Simcic

Praised by critics such as Parker, Suckling, or Jancis Robinson, listed by the world's most creative restaurants and "hunted" by wine collectors, Marjan Simcic represents that category of winemakers who, by refusing to mainstream trends, impose their own vision and philosophy vinification. The story of the Simcic winery begins in 1860 when Anton Simcic buys a vineyard in Medana, launching the Simcic family's "adventure" in the wine world. In 1997, in Ceglo, near Medana, Marjan Simcic built a modern wine cellar with state-of-the-art technology to produce the highest quality wines. 2008 is the year when Marjan, representing the fifth generation of winemakers in the Simcic family, takes over total control over all aspects of cellar activity. Nowadays, the Simcic family exploits 18 hectares of vineyards, some over 55 years old, a plantation stretching both in the Slovenian and Italian (Collio) part of Brda. The vineyards are in the Goriska Brda region, offering the ideal conditions for getting impressive wines.
